Bummer. I may have to fly down to one of their stores and see what kind of deals they have on a new receiver for my home theater. They are saying clearance level pricing so might be a good time to pick up some goodies!
The worst part is this means Best Buy will have an even bigger share of the market. God I hate Best Buy.
"(God) is constantly searching our hearts and minds. He's kind of like Santa Claus" - George W. Bush C.I.C.
I may step foot in Best Buy once or twice to look at something close, but always shop online these days for electronics and appliances. In fact, last Christmas was the first time I did NOT buy a gift for somebody from Best Buy. They're pretty much all alone now, and won't have any incentive to be competitive either, except for the Wally-Worlds, and online shops.
My wife and I were thinking about browsing for some goods at CC too. I may go to their website and sign-up.
I'm with Ronin on the Worst Purchase tip. We don't have a Fry's here or the like so BB is running roughshot.
I bought my plasma HDTV from CC locally with an extended warranty. I better look into "breaking" it now to get this years model so at least I get some value for my purchase. One of the HDMI connections on the back causes blue digital snow so I've got that in my back pocket for a "reason" if I ever want to play that card. With CC about to fold, it's time to go all-in.
So much for logging into the CC website.

I may go daily since one is so close to work depending on how the liquidator performs on slashing prices. I could use a new receiver, dvd player, TV, computer peripherals, etc.
They just jack up MSRP and then discount off of that. The one near me has been going out of business since before black friday and most of the "deals" completely suck.
A coworker said he checked at our local CC yesterday, and they indeed moved everything back to near MSRP, and some items were said to be 30% off (the junk items). As an example, he bought a WD external hard drive for $89 last month there. He couldn't get them to match that price yesterday because it is now $120. It looks like I won't waste my time the rest of this month going there. I will check in February.
The CC stores are closed for good here (and I think everywhere now maybe). I meant to stop by one of the CC stores here on Thursday or Friday when I saw a sign for 80% off. I guess it's too late now . Oh well.
I'd like to bump this as CC was a piece of shit store and them going out of business helped the environment. One less piece of real estate devoid of customers using electricity to not freeze the employees in winter.
Well, now it seems the CC stores are being filled with a store called HHGregg. Same ol shit, different name.
On the east coast yes, not here in the central US.
BB is ass. I got a $50 BB gift card as a gift last year. That would be the only reason I'd go there. I don't know about the BB's in your area, but the clientele in the BBs here are the scum of the earth.
There is almost no reason to shop at BB when their prices are always higher than Amazon and Newegg. I also have a gift card, but I'm holding onto it in hopes that on Black Friday there might be something worth picking up. Plus, there is zero competition in my area of NJ fro BB, besides Wal-Mart and Target (if you'd even call that competition). I'd welcome an HHGregg.
I agree. Since I'm currently a student, I snagged a free year's worth of Amazon Prime membership and it's saved me $$ on shipping books already.
Speaking of school and Newegg...the patch cables we try to use in our Cisco lab to connect the routers and switches are so janky I'm about to order a bunch on Newegg for $3 each. I'd make my own, but these will be 3 footers in assorted colors and my lab partner / "swim buddy" needs all the help they can get with visually hooking up the hardware correctly.
