Cooling problems maybe? Try one of the mobo monitor progrmas to check your temp levels wehile playing.
Did you reload the OS from scratch?

i have heard it might be the power supply too

I re-instaled the os when i got the new processor and mobo....also, its a brand new ps. I thought it might be cooling issues too, so ive bought a fan to see if that helps(just put it in last night). I'll have to look in the manual and try to figure out how to see the temp.

make sure you have the latest, and correct, chipset drivers installed as well. I was having reboot issues for a while, well actually I was getting BSOD's, and it was due to not even having an AGP to PCI bridge driver installed.
Also, check in Admin tools > Event Viewer and look for any critical errors.

Yeah...as in the same manufacturer part #. You can't cut a corner there as Stuffit said.
For Abit, check out this compatability page --> http://www.abit-usa.com/compatibility/
For example: I clicked on the KV8 Pro and got this chart --> http://www.abit.com.tw/test_report/KV8_Pro/index.php

I will say this yet again, You MUST have the right Ram for a 64 bit M/B. It HAS to be one of the approved types as stated by the M/B manufacture. I mean it totally has to be the same ram, not something close, but the one they recommend verbatim.

yeah, i think the ram might be the problem stuffit. I don't think it is approved by the mobo manufacturer, which is weird, because ive seen other people using the exact same with no problems, but im gonna see what i can do about replacing it

Ram much like a processor is almost organic like in nature. Every processor like ram is different even coming from the same die and line. That is why the M/B manufactures have to test extensively the ram type to see that all of it from that die and manufacture will work with their M/B and chipset. When they make a processor, they test it and run up the shrink on it until it becomes unstable...they back it down a few notches and label it as that speed. That is why some people will have a processor that clocks higher or lower that another one even though it says it’s a certain speed.
