Hex, Ive been eying the dsp-500 but am a little leery because it says it has a built in soundcard and I am not sure if/how that would interfere with the audigy I have now.

I would say its all personal preference Hexy. I've had an Altec lansing I got from office max that was 19.95 that looked just like that plantronics one you posted, and I loved it. I cant justify dropping 80 bucks on something I or the dog will step on ;).

Looks nice - I cant find any reviews of it on Google, but its only about two months since the release date. I like some of the features.

Or throw. Or use as a hammer to beat up some drywall.

Yeah, I wasn't worried about price right now. Just wondered which model of the plantronics was good. I am noob to this. It plugs in by USb, does the sound automatically come out of your headphones once you plug it in or..

i got the $15 plantronics that bestbuy was selling(its what everyone suggested to me+it was similar to what i had before and liked) i also got the 5 dollar replacement warranty from them, cause my previous plantronics quit working properly after 6 months, and after a little looking around, i found that that was a somewhat common problem.

I too have the .audio 90 plantronics and love them. I got mine on newegg when they had the OEM's for $15...looks like they are out of them now, but they are only $22 retail. I haven't had any issues at all with them. The sound quality is superb, with the right kind of music my ears literally shake with the low end bass.

When I was shopping around for a new headset, I found a lot of people were disappointed with the USB ones due to significant drops in volume compared to analog in/outputs. Never used a set so can't judge them, but seeing that was a common gripe among quite a few people I shyed away from chancing it.

Ronin and I also use the Audio 90 or an older version like them. I however (unlike Geno) have been using the same set for 3-4 years.

If I remember right, the Plantronic reps at last summer's CPL said this is their most popular model.

JT uses some high-end $100 Seinheuser (sp?) headset that he swears by.

I notice the SH ones on Newegg, but like you I don't know jack about them. Is there an advantage to having like 5.1 surround sound headsets?

It's the Audio 90 headset that I think the majority of us have. They are still at New Egg for $18 ($23 after shipping), found here:

I've had mine for around a year with no complaints. They aren't "professional" by any means, but the on-cord mute and volume control are damn handy. Unless, of course, you like everyone to hear you take your headset on and off and have it sound like you are dragging your mic through sand.

I bought a set of Senheiser headphones to use while I am at work. They are ok, but don't sound nearly as good as my Plantronics headset. I didn't get their best model by any means, and they do sound pretty decent, but given the choice to buy another set I would probably go with something different.

Being the loser I am, I liked the look and idea of that gaming headset Hex posted earlier so I ordered. Came in yesterday and when I got my new rig set up this morning, I plugged in and tested.

Needless to say, it blows away the $15 altecs I was using. No problems with it being a USB connection. Bass is very deep and me likes. We will see on vent later how clear the mic works.

Yeah, I like it a lot and it's much cooler now that things sound like they should.
