OK, last week, I came home on Thursday to find a box from Intel with a new 955x motherboard and a 3.2GHz EE dual-core chip. (WTF is that? (http://www.intel.com/personal/desktop/dualcore/index.htm?iid=HPAGE+up_feat_05ww16&)) I come home for lunch today to find that Kingston has sent their new DDR2 RAM to fit in this beast. This RAM is DDR-2 and runs at 750MHz (1.5GHz at full speed). I can't wait for Hitachi to come through in a pinch with a pair of SATA drives. (Crossing fingers...) This is going to be one seriously sweet machine.

Does that mobo do 750Mhz on the memory bus? I thought the high end was 667MHz.

Also, what are the memory timings? DDR2 is way high right now...maybe these are lower.

The mobo will only do 667MHz (I think). Kingston just sent the highest end stuff. It'll scale down. The latency timing is 4-4-4-12. Oddly (and I assume for heat reasons), it only uses 1.9v of electricity. DDR2 isn't compatible with DDR -- that little notch has moved like a centimeter, making sure you don't try to plug it in. Where DDR is 168-pin, DDR2 is 240-pin, but the slot size is the same.
