FYI: I'm running a PIII 800MHz with 256MB PC133 and a GeForce 2 32MB (default clock).
If you prefer not to do this manually, there is a UT2003 tweaker out there called UTBinder2003 (http://www.utbinder.tk/)
First of all, if you want to run truly for speed, set everything to lowest/disabled including the resolution.I'm running low textures and physics, everything else normal @ 1024x768 16-bit. Trillinear Filtering on, occasionally Coronas (not the beer :laugh:), everything else disabled.
If you want to see the effect on performance with a similar system (GeForce 2), go here (http://inevitable.ath.cx/~fibby/graphbench.html), and for screenshots of how various settings affect visuals, here (http://inevitable.ath.cx/~fibby/graphics.html).
Open UT2003.ini
I'm running the above <points> just fine. These entries shouldn't be hard to find. Change them to....
CacheSizeMegs=224 (assuming you have 256mb ram)
UsePrecaching=True
UseTripleBuffering=True
ReduceMouseLag=False
DesiredRefreshRate=85 (The highest value your monitor can run a resolution safely)
LevelOfAnisotropy=1 (default is 2. Up to 16 for GF2 cards. Up to 64 for GF3 and higher)
And disable all the GUI "feel" settings. If you don't have a 4.1 sound system, change audio to Software mode. If you have a relatively slow CPU run in Software mode, heck if you really need the resources run in Software mode. This should free anywhere between 3-16% CPU resources depending on your Sound card, number of voices, etc.
Update: More values....
UseDefaultDriver=False (default True. Set this to False to use your Sound card's specific driver)
